Trump calls for FEC, FCC to investigate ‘SNL’

There was no new on Saturday, but that didn’t stop President Donald Trump from tweeting that government agencies should investigate the show.

Saturdaynight’s rerun featured the “It’s a Wonderful Trump” sketch, which originally aired in December. It showed what life would be like if President Trump had never been elected.

It seemed to be a painful memory for the president, who expressed his frustration on Twitter.

Following the rerun, Trump ranted in a series of tweets about the show he called not funny.” He asked how the cast could spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), without so much of a mention of the other side.

He said the show was like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows.

In his next tweet, he called for the Federal Election Commission or Federal Communication Commission to investigate the show, baselessly stating that there must be collusion with Democrats and, of course, Russia.

Hard to believe I won and am winning. Approval rating 52%, 93% with Republicans. Sorry! he added.

It’s not clear where those numbers came from. The Gallup report’s most recent rating put him at a 39 percent approval rating, and even the right-leaning Rasmussen Poll has him currently sitting at 48 percent, although Rasmussen previously had him at 52 percent.

While it happens less often, SNL also takes swipes at Democrats, like a sketch making fun of liberal optimismand anxietyduring the 2018 midterms.

Earlier this week, the president took a jab at late-night talk show hosts.

The three very weak and untalented late night ‘hosts’ are ‘fighting over table scraps. Carson did a great job, it wasnt political. I dont know what theyre going to do in 2024 when hes no longer President? Will be wacky in the unemployment line,’ he wrote, tagging Fox and Friends.

After a brief hiatus season 44 returns on March 30, hosted by 2019 Golden Globes co-host and Emmy winner Sandra Oh.
